John Travolta has signed on to play 'Gummy Bear', known as Gummibar in the US, based on the virtual singing sensation/global brand/we're not entirely sure.
Gummy Bear has apparently become a big deal since its launch in 2012, generating 3.6+ billion downloads and averaging 20 million new users each month, according to a press release from the film's distributor Stealth Media (via Comingsoon.net.) The Gummy Bear movie will be written by Bad Boys scribe George Gallo, and focus on Gummy and his friends - a vegetarian vampire bat, a cat and a chameleon - as they fight to save an alien planet.
Travolta's last voice over gig was for the highly entertaining 2008 Disney flick Bolt. Whether or not he'll be as impressive as this auto-tuned viral sensation, well, that remains to be seen.
